Three Big Moves for Glaxo.Posted by Jacob Goldstein
Andrew Witty, GlaxoSmithKline’s new CEO, is starting to shake things up. A few key moves announced in the past day:A panel including a venture capitalist and the CEO of a biotech company will decide how to parcel out $1 billion a year in funding to Glaxo researchers,
the Financial Times reports. “This will be analogous to a university spin-out going to a venture capitalist, and having to answer the questions of whether their strategy stacks up with the market place and is the team the right one to deliver,” Witty told the FT. Research teams will also be split into smaller units of five to 80 scientists.
